Jasmine’s Story

I would like to share the story of Jasmine.

Few months before our wedding Daniel and I were talking about adding a dog to our little family, after struggling to conceive a baby.

We searched online for breeds of dogs and we decided on a pure bred Labrador. Between getting married and moving we stopped talking about getting a puppy.

In April 2009 I was online looking for breeders who sell Labradors. After hours of looking I thought to myself there are animals who need a home, I decided to look at the RSPCA Adopt a pet website.

I did a search and I came across a puppy called ‘Ruby’ a German shorthaired Pointer x Ridgeback, I knew right away she was our dog. I waited for Daniel to come home from work to show him a picture. Daniel said I should go to the RSPCA to check her out. I asked my mother in law to take me to the RSPCA, she agrees. We decided to call her Jasmine.
The next day mother in law and I went to the RSPCA I told the lady which puppy I would like to see, she showed me the way to ‘Ruby’, her brother and sisters ran up to the cage while ‘Ruby’ just laid there. I was allowed in the cage to grab ‘Ruby’. I knew then she was coming home with us.

I told the lady I would like to buy ‘Ruby and change her name to Jasmine.
After paying for Jasmine, I said good bye, I could not take her home because RSCPA won’t let animals go to new homes until they are desexed etc. The lady said it will take a week or two to get Jasmine.
Few days later we got a phone call saying jasmine was ready and we can pick her up the next day.
Mother in law and I went pick Jasmine up the next day.

Daniel came home and met Jasmine for first time,
It’s now three years on and Jasmine’s fitting into our little family very well. Spoilt and stubborn is how she is and we wouldn’t have her any other way.

We love our Jasmine.

    There’s nothing more special than getting a RSPCA or Pound puppy. It’s such a good deed and you get some much out of it, getting a beautiful pet that will cherish you forever. Jasmine is just beautiful!

    What a lovely story Lisa, and Jasmine looks lovely! The RSPCA (or similar) is the ONLY place to get a dog (or cat). So many animals desperately need good homes, good on you for being one of those fabulous people to provide one! No doubt Jasmine loves you as much as you love her. x
